Robin Gibb eyes music comeback'

24th April 2012

Robin Gibb is determined to start making music again.

The Bee Gees star recently woke from a coma, which he fell into while battling pneumonia.

The 62-year-old star has been fighting liver and colon cancer and it's thought the illness was a by-product of that.

At one point Robin's family were told his outlook was poor, but he has astounded medics by regaining consciousness.

His son RJ revealed the star is already talking about making a music comeback.

"His vitals are perfect. He just needs to build his strength," RJ was quoted as saying by British newspaper The Sun.

"Work is what he wants to get back to doing."

RJ full name Robin-John is the singer's son with his wife Dwina. He has re-lived the moment his father woke from a coma after 12 days.

"We said, We love you.' He said, Hi RJ,' and, Hi sweetheart' to my mother," he recalled.

Robin's doctor has also spoken about the star's condition. Imperial College Healthcare's Dr Thillainayagam admits initially being worried about the singer's chances, saying he has shown extraordinary strength by pulling through.

"The prognosis was very grave, given that Robin had brain swelling from liver failure, a severe pneumonia and a weakened immune system from malnutrition.

"We felt it was very likely that Robin would succumb to what seemed to be insurmountable obstacles to any form of meaningful recovery," he is quoted as saying by British newspaper The Mirror.

"It is testament to Robin's extraordinary courage, iron will and deep reserves of physical strength that he has overcome quite incredible odds to get where he is now.

"Robin is fully conscious, lucid and able to speak to his loved ones."

The star has two children with his ex-wife Molly, and the medical professional paid tribute to his whole family for helping him pull through.
