Rooney Mara made a drastic transformation for her role as Lisbeth Salander in 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo',
a transformation she will have to live with till at least 2015 as the 'Millennium' trilogy movies roll out.
"Before I worked for the movie (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) I used to dress myself up in typical girl fashion " she quotes " I used to wear a lot of bright colored clothes and accessories". Now I literally roll out of bed and put on whatever is there. I have really enjoyed dressing up as a boy last year."
Rooney also reveals that the drastic transformation she was given was by top makeup artist Pat McGrath, costume designer Trish Summerville and hairstylist Danilo to get into the character of Lisbeth.
“I was instantly inspired,” the makeup artist who transformed Mara for the role, Pat McGrath, says. “It’s like in fashion, when you get to see a girl who has one of those haunting faces , and which people wouldn't forget easily."
Holed up in a tiny studio for two days with Fincher and Mara, McGrath created about 26 different looks. “We went from the white-powdered clown makeup to stitches in the face all the way to greasy, bloody eyes. I instantly knew how I could make her character so different. And then once the hair was cut in that mad shape, I decided to give her a look with minimal eyebrows. And in the end, it gave her a newfound look and personality".
Rooney said hairstylist Danilo "cut my hair, shaved the sides, bleached the eyebrows, then dyed my hair black. We also managed to give her piercings in just one day".
