(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ryan Philippe's ex-girlfriend has given her new-born daughter the actor's surname.

Alexis Knapp gave birth to a baby girl on July 6 2011, but didn't name a father on the official birth certificate.

She did, however, name the child Kailana Phillippe-Knapp in a nod to her ex-boyfriend, who she alleges fathered the child.

Ryan and Alexis dated on and off for a few months in 2010, but never became an official couple.

Ryan, who has previously been married to actress Reese Witherspoon, is reportedly awaiting the results of a DNA test.

The star is said to have attended the birth, giving a strong indication that he will acknowledge the child as his own.

The 36-year-old already has two children from his marriage to Reese, Ava, eleven, and Deacon, seven. (C) Cover Media
