Ryan Reynolds: Monster was inspired by Rivers

9th June 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ryan Reynolds has joked that the evil monster in his new movie was inspired by Joan Rivers.

The actor, who is known for his good sense of humour, said the creature in Green Lantern shares likenesses with the Hollywood diva, who is infamous for her brash manner and multiple plastic surgeries.

But the Canadian hunk also sent himself up, poking fun at the tight green suit he is wearing in the sci-fi movie.

"Joan Rivers," he said, when asked what the alien creature was modelled on.

Talking about his superhero outfit, Ryan explained he had to shoot some scenes in an unflattering motion-capture suit.

The star, who had to beef up to portray the Green Lantern action hero, said it wasn't his best look.

"I looked like a crash test dummy who lost his Volvo," he laughed during the press conference.

Co-star Blake lively, who was also interviewed by the publication, admitted that she "sabotaged" the actor.

The 23-year-old tempted Ryan, who followed a strict diet regime to gain muscles for his role, with home baked cakes on set.

"It was just a way to sabotage Ryan," she said. "I'm the girl. I should look better." (C) Cover Media
