(Cover) - EN Movies - Angelina Jolie's spy thriller Salt is being lined up for a sequel.
Rumours that the movie would return to the big screen have been circulating for months. It has now been revealed the sequel plans are moving ahead, after Deadline reported that Kurt Wimmer has been hired to write a script.
In the first movie, Angelina played Evelyn Salt a CIA agent who is accused of being a Russian spy. The film ended on a cliffhanger, with Salt vowing to take revenge on the people who ruined her life.
Angelina has expressed an interest in reprising the role, but has revealed she would only do so if "if it comes together right".
Salt opened to mixed reviews and failed to set the box office alight, taking in $118 million at the US box office despite costing $110 million to make. However, it was more successful outside America raking in almost $300 million worldwide.
Director Philip Noyce will not be returning if the sequel does go ahead. (C) Cover Media
