(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Sam Worthington says his dreadlocks made him feel like Samson.

The 34-year-old actor cuts a distinguished figure in Hollywood following huge success in 2009 films Terminator Salvation and Avatar. But the Australian still hankers after his younger days, when a surf board and a unique hairstyle characterised his relaxed look.

I liked my dreadlocks, mate. I was like Samson! I surfed all my life and they just formed. I used to wear them in bunches, as I had to wear them up for drama school, he told Elle magazine.

Now fully cropped, Sam reminisces fondly about his pre-fame years and his hippie look. He knows he may have lost acting roles due to his dreadlocks but believes his stubbornness helped him create the career he has today.

People kept saying they would limit the roles I could do, but I refused to cut them. They were like, Youre only going to end up in Home and Away. I was like, Thats not a bad show, he continued. (C) Cover Media
