Sarah Jessica Parker enjoys Burberry show

22nd September 2010

(Cover) - EN Fashion - Sarah Jessica Parker, Mario Testino and Serena Williams sat front row at the Burberry Prorsum Spring/Summer 11 show at London Fashion Week yesterday.

The actress is a huge fan of the British label, and arrived wearing a leather peacoat. She was thrilled to have received an invitation to the event, explaining she has always wanted to see one of the labels shows.

The Burberry folks were very kind to invite me, she said. They have been very generous in the past and this is the first occasion that I could work it out with my children and with my work schedule.

Serena was equally as thrilled to be in attendance. She opted for a green silk dress and skyscraper heels, and explained this year shed made it her mission to go to some London shows. This is my first fashion show in Europe, she told RadarOnline. I always do the ones in New York so I definitely wanted to come outside of the United States and do some this time. I love it. I can't believe I'm here. I'm so excited.

Chief creative director Christopher Baileys key look was the biker jacket, which he showed in a number of different ways. Some were studded while others boasted spikes, with the leather theme making its way into all areas of the collection. Leather leggings came in black and flesh colour, complete with padding on the thighs to add to the motorbike inspiration.

There was even a leather trench coat, which was belted to add shape. The clothes were accessorised with towering stiletto heels so tall one model toppled over, completing her catwalk in just one shoe.

Slightly more wearable pieces included tunic dresses, khaki coats and T-shirts with ruffle detailing.

I wanted the collection to be trans-seasonal, Christopher said. We're now talking to a global digitised audience.

Marios Schwab also showcased yesterday, and also appeared to have been inspired by bikers. Pretty dresses with lace sections were given edge thanks to patterns which looked like tattoos, while models walked to a soundtrack including Nirvanas Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Leggings and long-sleeved tops have the same inking-inspired markings on them, while leather minidresses added to the tough feel of the show.

Key looks included a pair of three-quarter-length leather trousers and a bright blue silk dress.

Also showing yesterday were Todd Lynn, Jonathan Saunders, Amanda Wakeley and Issa London. Today is the last day of London Fashion Week, and sees a series of mens shows take place. (C) Cover Media
