Simon Pegg recalls strange time in Los Angeles

16th October 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Simon Pegg was astounded when a homeless person in Los Angeles ignored the money he was being given, and asked someone to read his film script instead.

The British actor is a huge fan of the sunny American city, but says all the stories about it being full of people who are obsessed with Hollywood and movies are true. He once asked his driver to give a homeless man some money as he had seen him in the same place several times, but was amazed by what happened next.

There was a homeless guy I used to see who wore a sign around his neck saying, For a dollar you can kick my a*s. But even homeless people can be a bit LA. When I was working on Star Trek over there, there was this one-legged homeless guy I used to pass on my way to the set and one day I had my driver stop and give him $20, he recalled to more! magazine. When the guy saw the film crew sticker on the car he asked if she would read his script...

Simons experience didnt put him off though, and he still enjoys visiting Los Angeles. He once lived there for six months and made a lot of good friends because the people were so friendly.

The star didnt even miss home too much, as there was a shop by his local bar which sold delicacies from the UK. Jaffa cakes, Walkers crisps, HP sauce and Marmite. There wasnt much I couldnt get, he said. (C) Cover Media
