(Cover) - EN Star Style - Solange Knowles insists "there is no better accessory than [her] fro".

The 25-year-old American songstress is known for her unique dress sense and bold hairstyles, and is often considered to be more edgy with her fashion choices than older sister Beyonc.

Solange, who sported a shocking close-cropped hairstyle in 2009, loves people taking notice of her curly tresses.

"I love my hair because it's versatile and empowering and it makes a statement. There is no better accessory than my fro," she told Essence magazine.

Solange takes style inspiration from music legends and those nearest and dearest to her. Although she looks to other women for encouragement, Solange tries to maintain her individuality.

"Everyone knows I'm obsessed with Diana Ross. I often use her afros as examples. But I have to admit, I've never quite seen one like my mom's in photos from back in the day," she quipped.

"I don't believe that there's such a thing as complete originality. All you can do is take the power of something so legendary and try to put your own stank on it."

Solange loves to experiment with her locks. The stunning star has revealed a long list of her previous cuts and styles.

"I've played with many silhouettes and textures. I've styled it in a triangle, added pieces for length, and compacted it for a tight square crop," she said. (C) Cover Media
