Stars come out for Cavalli show

28th September 2010

(Cover) - EN Fashion - Heidi Klum, Taylor Swift, Rachel Bilson and Leona Lewis were among the stars to attend Roberto Cavallis Milaan Fashion Week show yesterday.

The Italian designer was debuting his Spring/Summer 11 line, and went all out to impress. He staged the event inside a huge glass marquee, complete with plastic plants and to make it seem like a jungle.

The clothes were intricate and impressive, with patterns hand-stitched on rather engrained in the fabric. Models wore snake-skin dresses, which were ripped and torn so they flowed around the body. Long hair extensions added to the feeling of movement, as did the acres of fringing dripped from dresses, trousers, handbags, shoes and even bra tops.

Chiffon had a snake-skin print, while dresses were given sparkle thanks to added crystals and gold leaf. The colour palette ranged from grey to pale purple and cream, and jewellery was in the form of gold hoop earrings.

Giorgio Armanis show was equally as star-studded, with George Clooney and his girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis in attendance. Elisabetta also went to the Cavalli debut, but managed to change outfits in time for Armani. Also there were Megan Fox, the face of Armani underwear, and her husband Brian Austin Green.

Armanis collected was titled La Femme Bleue, and surprised many with its sombre palette. The ready-to-wear collection came in shades of blue with some black thrown in, but was far from boring. Leather jackets were cut as blazers, and featured huge bow details. Tunic dresses were a key look, and accessories came in form of wedge shoes and turbans.

Fringing, a key look for the new season, made a small appearance, used to tie together tops at the back. Floor-length evening gowns came in midnight blue with crystals woven throughout, and were teamed with flat shoes with ankle details.

Yesterday was the last day of Milan Fashion Week, with DSquared2, Les Copains and Laura Biagiotti also showing. Paris Fashion Week, the final in the series of shows, kicks off tomorrow, with collections by Gareth Pugh, Limi Feu and Guy Laroche. (C) Cover Media
