(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Steve Carell decided to move to Chicago when he finished college because he didn’t think he was good enough to act in Los Angeles or New York.
The 47-year-old had no idea what he wanted to do with his life when he finished high school. He ended up studying history at university in Ohio, but was still unsure about his future once he graduated.
After an agonising few months, Steve decided he was going to pursue a career in acting, and moved to Chicago because he thought he’d have a better chance there than in bigger cities.
“Chicago was my goal,” Steve told Empire magazine. “Once I’d decided to be an actor, or at least attempt it, I thought Chicago would be a good alternative to New York and LA because I didn’t have the confidence that I would actually work in those two big cities. I figured Chicago was the best place for me.”
Steve ended up joining Chicago’s famous Second City comedy troupe which led to his big break on The Daily Show. From there, he was cast to star in several movies and is now one of the most successful comedy actors in Hollywood. (C) Cover Media
