Steven Tyler: Addiction is unforgiving

8th November 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Steven Tyler wanted to write an autobiography before he ended up "surrounded by two naked lesbians".

The Aerosmith frontman released Does The Noise in My Head Bother You earlier this year, which documents the ups and downs of his music career.

Steven has discussed the reason for publishing his memoirs.

"I wanted to do it before ending up with a bag of drugs in the ass, surrounded by two naked lesbians in a hotel deep in the heart of Minnesota!" he told Paris Match.

"You never know how far addiction can take you. I am the lead singer of Aerosmith, we've been existing and touring for 40 years, I've been married several times, I have four children... We lead a crazy life. I think that we could never have carried on without cocaine and alcohol, I wanted to tell the ups and downs of this kind of existence."

Steven has also broached the subject of the constant association of rock n' roll and drugs. The 63-year-old singer-songwriter is now sober after a public battle with drugs and alcohol, and says substance abuse is at every performer's finger tips.

"Because it's not easy to hold out," he explained.

"There isn't a guide on the good rock star. You have to manage by yourself You meet a girl you fancy. You take her with you on tour and she goes nuts. Success increases your failures." (C) Cover Media
