Suriya and Karthi reach out to the needy

33rd year award function of Sri Sivakumar Educational & Charitable Trust, took place in Chennai yesterday. Suriya and Karthik Sivakumar graced the event and were rally happy to be a part of the Trust. 

The trust was founded by the young actors' father Sivakumar in the year 1979 and since then has been supporting the cause of education.

Almost 20 students were awarded Ten Thousand each and Thai Tamil Palli supporting primary education in areas in and around Tindivanam and Vazhai, an organisation mentoring first generation learners, received 1.5 lakh each.

In his address, Suriya said education is no more a want but a basic necessity in life apart from food, shelter and clothing. 

"Agaram Foundation is now supporting more than 500 first  generation college goers and training them on all aspects such as personality development, versatility and adoptability helping them to be a responsible citizen of our country," he said.

Following the footsteps of his father and elder brother, Karthik also expressed his interest to work in the interest of the society.

Sivakumar said that he was really happy that his 25 years legacy of nurturing the needy is now carried on with the same passion by his sons.
