The Artist swept Sunday's British Academy Film (BAFTA) Awards winning in seven major categories.
The French homage to silent movies starring Jean Dujardin was awarded trophies for Best Actor, Best Film, Best Director, Original Screenplay, Original Music, Cinematography and Costume Design.
The Artist has been victorious throughout the awards season and is expected to be a big hit at the Academy Awards on February 26, where it has received 10 nominations.
The second clear BAFTA winner tonight was dramatic biopic The Iron Lady. Critics were impressed with Meryl Streep's portrayal of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and the star walked away with an award for Best Actress. The feature was also honoured in the Make Up and Hair category.
Martin Scorcese received several accolades at the ceremony. The venerable director's first-ever family film Hugo took home trophies for Production Design and Sound. Martin himself was honoured with the BAFTA Academy Fellowship for his exceptional contribution to film, one of the highest acknowledgments of the evening.
Other notable winners this year include spy film Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. The film starring Gary Oldman left the event with awards for Outstanding British Film and Best Adapted Screenplay.
The 65th British Academy Film Awards were held in London, England at the Royal Opera House Sunday February 12.
