November 1, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): If rumors are to be believed, Thriller just might become huge this time. According to the buzz Kenny Ortega, the maker behind Michael Jacksons 'This Is It' might just direct and make the ever popular music video into a full length film. Jeremy Garelick has been rumored to be roped in for the screenplay of the film.
It is still not known what the film will be about but once again its a buzz that the narrator of the video Vince Prices character will be the central one around whom the plot of the film will revolve. Many major studios are vying to get the rights of the film, Fox 2000, Mandate/Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment, but as of now it is GK Films nearing closing the deal.
The video was of 14 minutes and directed by John Landis, and was made under the budget of $500,000. The film is to be for a budget of $50 million almost $10 million less than the budget of This Is It. The posthumous film of Jacksons garnered $262 million, so the big screen Thrillers budget seems to be pretty meager considering the hype it would generate.
Nonetheless, it would be worth seeing the man who created it all again in the big screen on a Halloween night, under the full moon. The video became the first music video to get a place in the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress and it has influenced umpteen numbers of singers, performers, dancers and choreographers. Lets hope this rumor is true and Thriller can moonwalk to the big screen soon.
