Tilda Swinton: I wanted to gamble

4th December 2011

Tilda Swinton always wanted to be "gardener or a gambler".

The 51-year-old British actress has carved out a successful career in the film industry.

As well as appearing in movies such as Burn After Reading and We Need to Talk about Kevin, Tilda won a best supporting actress Oscar for her performance in Michael Clayton.

Despite all her achievements, Tilda grew up dreaming of a very different career.

"Truth is I never wanted that. I desperately wanted to train horses, bring up dogs, be a gardener or maybe a gambler," she told New York Post. "I slipped into this and somehow always intend whatever movie I'm doing to be my last."

Tilda is known for her unusual lifestyle.

She travels all over the world to make movies and also has a husband and long-time lover. Even though some people might struggle to get to grips with her routine, Tilda insists she finds it easy to maintain normality.

"Actually, I consider my lifestyle to be very orthodox, loving and regular," she smiled.
