23rd October 2012

Tony Scott had prescription drugs in his system used to treat depression and insomnia at the time of his death.

The acclaimed film director jumped to his death from the Vincent Thomas Bridge in California in August.

The Los Angeles Coroner's Office confirmed to TMZ that Tony had anti-depressant Mirtazapine and sleeping aid Lunesta in his system when he passed away.

His official cause of death was drowning and blunt force trauma to the head. His demise was ruled a suicide.

The motivation behind Tony taking his own life remains unknown.

There was rife speculation as to why Scott decided to end his life, with reports claiming he was having inoperable brain cancer. However, Los Angeles County Coroner's chief investigator Craig Harvey confirmed that the director's family told investigators that the information was "incorrect".

The final coroner's report will be complete two weeks from now.

Tony was laid to rest a week after his passing.
