December 16, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): 36 years old mechanical engineer, Joseph Kosinski, is one lucky fellow. After getting his mechanical engineering degree from Stanford, he completed his masters in architecture from Columbia. He has not even worked for a year as a commercial director. His claim to fame were the campaigns for Xbox 360 Halo 3 and Gears of War. These commercials had earned him the Association of Independent Commercial Producers awards. Now, Kosinski has a special part to play; he has been assigned the responsibility of directing the sequel to Tron.

One of the reasons why Kosinski was chosen as The one to reboot Tron was his knowledge of the latest special effects techniques. For making the Tron: Legacy, he used the 3D fusion camera system which was developed by James Cameron. He brought about the marriage of the world of architecture with the automotive industry to create a cinematic genius like Tron: Legacy, scheduled for a December 17 release.

Tron, released in 1982, was a pioneering landmark in the chapters of cinematic history. For the first time in the history of cinema a fully digital body and head were integrated based on a real actor, Jeff Bridges. As many as 52 facial markers and four lipstick cameras on helmets were used to capture every move of the actor.

Although Kosinski has made a high tech sequel, he assures the actors that no amount of perfection in a photo realistic digital character can replace real actors. The performances of the digital characters are nothing but the performances of the actors. A real breathing actor can never be overshadowed by the advancing digital technology.
