UTV on an acquisition spree

UTV Motion Pictures, which has big plans for Kollywood, is on an acquisition spree. It has signed a three-film deal with Lingusamy's Thirrupathi Brothers Film Media Pvt Ltd, apart from its existing agreements with other production houses.

As per the new deal, UTV will distribute all the three under-production movies of Thirrupathi Brothers. The movies are 'Vettai', an Arya-Madhavan starrer directed by Lingusamy, 'Vazhakku Enn 18/9' directed by Balaji Sakthivel of Kadhal and Kallooori fame and 'Kumki' directed by Prabu Solomon with Prabhu's son Vikram Prabhu playing the lead role.

A formal press meet was organised in Chennai on Monday evening to launch 'Kumki'. Prabhu Solomon said, 'It is a film set in the backdrop of a forest. Inspired from a real life incident, Kumki is an intense love story with all necessary commercial elements'.

D Imman will score music for 'Kumki', which will bring BACK together many members of the 'Mynaa' team once again. Apart from 'Kumki', 'Vazhakku Enn 18/9' and 'Vettai', UTV currently has many other projects including Vikram's 'Deiva Thirumagal', Cheran-Prasanna starrer 'Muran' and Mysskin's 'Mugamoodi' starring Jiiva.
