War of words at Producers Council

The emergency meeting of Tamil Film Producers Council in Chennai on Sunday witnessed noisy scenes as the members were involved in war of words over the conduct of elections on 9th of October.

Talking to journalists after the meeting, president in-charge of the council S A Chandrasekaran said that many members had leveled allegations that rampant corruption had taken place in the Council in the past. "We have decided to collect the evidence and submit it to the police", he said.

When the issue of conducting elections were discussed, a section of the members were up on their feet. S A Chandrasekharan insisted that those who have corruption charges levelled against them should not contest the elections.

Eventually, the meeting ended with certain rules and regulations laid for the smooth conduct of the Producers Council Elections. Veteran producer Ibrahim Rowther was selected as the election officer.
