Wasseypur waasi's oppose 'Gangs of Wasseypur'

Bollywood's acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Kashyap who is solely responsible for reviving contemporary and parallel cinema amidst commercial films, is currently geared up for his forthcoming film 'Gangs of Wasseypur'

The film has already drawn controversies within few days of the release of its promos, and now the people hailing from Wasseypur exclaim that the film defames their locality and hence they want it to be banned. 

The residents of Naya Bazaar, Wasseypur Dhanbad have raised objections over the film. A letter has been submitted to Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni and Babulal Marandi in regards to their appeal to ban the movie. 

For the ones unaware of the film, 'Gangs of Wasseypur' is based in a small town in Jharkhand, revolving around the lives of people living there. The film has been handpicked to be screened at the ongoing 65th Cannes Film Festival 2012.
