(Cover) - EN Movies - Will Ferrell has been selected by the Kennedy Center to receive this years Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

The Hollywood funnyman has starred in a string of comedy hits including Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy, Zoolander, and Talladega Nights. He is also a respected cast member on hit NBC sketch show Saturday Night Live.

The 43-year-old American star has been recognised for his contribution to comedy and will be presented with a bronze portrait bust of Mark Twain at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall later this year.

"I am truly honoured to receive this distinction," he said in a statement. "I will now begin cultivating a Mark Twain-esque moustache in anticipation of the event."

Will follows in the footsteps of fellow Saturday Night Live cast mate Tina Fey, who received the prestigious award last year.

The award is now in its 14th year and honours the greatest comedy talents. Previous winners include Whoopi Goldberg, Billy Crystal and Bill Cosby.

Will, who will receive the award on October 23, will next be seen in the independent feature Everything Must Go. (C) Cover Media
