Independence Day release 'Gold' starring Akshay Kumar in the lead revolves around the journey of India winning the first ever Olympic Gold as a free nation. This Reema Kagti directorial had a wide star cast featuring Akshay Kumar as Tapan Das, Mouni Roy, who plays Akshay aka Tapan's wife and actors Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Kumar Singh and Sunny Kaushal as hockey players.

Gold has managed to enter the 100-crore club on its 13th day from the film's release. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#Gold crosses Rs. 100 cr mark on Day 13... [Week 2] Fri 1.85 cr, Sat 3.10 cr, Sun 4.75 cr, Mon 1.45 cr. Total: Rs. 100.45 cr. India biz... Akshay Kumar's ninth film in Rs. 100 cr Club." 

Apart from getting generally positive responses from critics, the film had opened to a remarkable Rs 25.25 crore. It has raked in Rs 100.45 crore till now. The film also marked silver screen debut of television actress Mouni Roy. 'Gold' is Akshay Kumar's second film of 2018 after 'Padman', which released earlier this year, saw a lifetime collection of Rs 81.82 crore.

The movie released on August 15, 2018, along with John Abraham starrer 'Satyameva Jayate'.
