Akshay-Salman song out of 'Fugly' for a reason

16th June 2014

It is not a new trend to rope in leading Bollywood stars for a special appearance in the film which has newcomers in the lead to garner the much needed attention towards the film. But it takes real courage to edit the same special appearance out of the final copy.

This is exactly what happened with the film 'Fugly'. The film had a special dance number 'Fugly' composed by Yo Yo Honey Singh, starring Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan.

The film was promoted using the song and hence it was expected that like other special dance numbers, this one too will roll out in the final credits. But when the film released this Friday, it came as a complete shock that the song found no place in the final print.

However, the makers of the film confess that it was a conscious decision to keep the song out of the film. The song didn't gel with the theme of the film and hence they decided to not include it at all.

"We took the conscious decision to remove the Salman-Akshay song from the film as it didn't go well with the film's ending. We feel it's important to be true to the theme and the mood of the film. In any case, the song was meant for promotional purposes," said co-producer Ashwini Yardi.
