Vikramaditya Motwane, the director of the film is personally a fan of the superhero characters of Hollywood, whether it is Marvel or DC. Hence, coming up with a Super Hero movie was not a surprise for his team. Motwane had this script in making since 2010 and he did make several alterations to it.
Talking about how real is the issue that the movie is based on Motwane said ''Water is relevant. If you see what is happening in Bangalore (Bengaluru) right now, it is a city that could run dry at some point. That is a scary thought. One bad monsoon, and even Bombay could be in trouble. The film is not talking about the problem, but about the potential of what could happen. It is about a scam that is happening around water and one guy trying to stop that. Even if it is a little ahead of time, it is relevant. Every summer there are water shortages.''
Earlier Imran Khan and Sidharth Malhotra were in news for the film but none of them gave nod. About the script, Motwane said, ''It all begun in 2010, the Congress government was there, and people were really angry about it. The Jan Lokpal movement happened, the anti-corruption movement happened. I wrote the film about corruption in Mumbai, about land-grabbing and the only change I made was First it was about land, now the film is about water.''
Bhavesh Joshi Superhero will be Harshvardhan Kapoor's second film after his debut, 'Mirzya', Bankrolled by Eros International, Reliance Entertainment, Vikas Bahl, Madhu Mantena and Anurag Kashyap, the movie is slated to release on June 1.
