Bollywood diva Sunny Leone's biopic titled 'Karenjit Kaur: The Untold Story' premiered on 16th July on Zee5 digital platform. The story is about a Sikh girl based in Canada and how she becomes a famous face in the world.

Now, the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) general secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa has asked the producer, Subhash Chandra of Essel Group, to remove the word or face the music for hurting Sikh sentiments. The controversy is all related to the surname 'Kaur' that resembles the majority of the women from the Sikh community and the board just wants the name eliminated from the title.

"There is a sentimental value attached with the surname. Every Sikh girl remains a Kaur before and even after marriage. It is a part of her identity given by the Gurus," Sirsa stated in a letter to Chandra. Manjinder Singh Sirsa said, "Sikhs in India and abroad were finding the use of 'Kaur' in the title 'Karenjit Kaur: The Untold Story of Sunny Leone' a publicity stunt in bad taste." He further adds, "We shall not hesitate from protesting on your office premises against the misuse of the surname."

Spokesperson Daljit Singh Bedi said, "Kaur, is a pious surname designated for Sikh women by the Gurus. We will file a complaint with the makers of the series on Tuesday."
