The first look of Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer 'Manto' directed by Nandita Das was unveiled recently at the Cannes Film Festival 2017. Nandita shared the same poster on her Facebook wall and captioned it as, "If you cannot bear these stories, it is because we live in unbearable times - Saadat Hasan Manto WHAT WOULD YOU CHOOSE? YOUR FREEDOM or FREEDOM OF SPEECH #Cannes2017 #film."
The poster shows Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Saadat Hasan Manto giving an intense look. A patch of red colour is also seen on the poster thereby depicting blood and some writings in Urdu language can also be seen.
The film stars Rasika Dugal as Manto's wife Safiya. The film is based on the backdrop of India in 1940s and Sadat Hasan Manto is considered to be one of the greatest short story writers in the History.
