Santhanam is the most unavoidable comedian in Tamil cinema. He is currently acting in many films including Velayudham, Vaanam, Vandhan Vendran and in also in a film which has Vikram in the lead role. He also did the lead role in the film Arai En 305. He was getting lot of offers for the lead roles but Santhanam says that he cannot accept the roles which show him as a very good person. He had also acted in a Hindi film titled Chinnoo Mannoo. He is also getting offers in Telugu and Malayalam films. There was news that he is demanding more salary these days. When asked him about this he said,” How much extra salary will they give for the comedians? I demand money according to the call sheet they ask me. If I give 35 days' call sheet for a film, I demand what I deserve. Similarly it is natural to ask for more salary when I give call sheet for 45 days. What is wrong in it. Because of this they say I am demand more salary.”
