Sarah Jessica Parker: Kids bond marriages

18th September 2011

(Cover) - US Showbiz - Sarah Jessica Parker says parenthood has helped her and her husband have "substantial conversations".

The star and Matthew Broderick are parents to James Wilkie, eight, and two-year-old twins Marion and Tabitha.

She knows some couples find having kids means they have less time for each other, but for her the opposite is true.

"Definitely that can happen and it doesn't matter that everyone's intentions are good. On the other hand, when you have children you develop this incredible mutual interest, which can be very good for a marriage, to talk about the things outside of yourself," she explained. "Matthew and I have really substantial conversations about how we want to help this little person become a great man or a great woman."

Sarah Jessica and Matthew's daughters were born via surrogate. They are both thrilled to have two some wonderful little girls in their lives, although now they're getting older they've become more difficult to look after.

"It's funny, in the beginning the twins were very quiet, just really lovely, wonderfully co-operative so there was less of a shocking transition," she told Grazia magazine, when asked what it's like to have twins. "But now they can express themselves - they want their needs met" (C) Cover Media
