Following Hollywood with the trend of announcing the release date of a movie a year prior to its release is turning out to be quite popular in Bollywood. More and more filmmakers are now announcing their films release dates even before the project officially goes on floors, and this is to ensure that the film creates enough excitement amongst the fans right from the inception of the film. This works as a great promotional tool, and also makes other producers wary of their competition.
The latest film to announce its arrival a year in advance is '2 States'.
Filmmakers Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala, who are jointly producing '2 States', recently announced that the film would release on April 18th, 2014.
The release has been strategically planned, as the announced date is a public holiday, Good Friday falls on the movie's planned release date next year. This festive occasion gives them the advantage of an extended weekend which will definitely add to its glory at the box-office.
The film which is the onscreen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's book with the same title is about his wedding.
The movie stars Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the lead. While Arjun plays the Punjabi boy, Alia plays a Tamilian in the movie.
