Director Ram Gopal Varma is known to wear his heart on his sleeve. From his outrageous comments to his unpleasant spats, Ramu, as fondly called in B-town, of late has been in the news for all the wrong reasons! Success has shirked his recent films with 'Sarkar Raj' being his last real hit, starring Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan. Now, the cult film-maker is all set to revive his magic with the Bachchan duo, along with some added glamour. His next film 'Department' is in its casting stage, and the director has finalized the leads, who in addition to the Bachchan father-son duo, also includes Kangana Ranaut and Sanjay Dutt. The film is about rusty cops who take charge of solving degrading social issues, beyond lawful means. Ramu will experiment and give Bollywood its newest pair, casting Kangana alongside Abhishek, casting them as a married couple in the film.

As is the case with all RGV's film, this one will also have strong characters with hard-hitting roles, and dark shades, portrayed by icons Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Abhishek. Kangana takes on a strong, dark character in the film. Prior to this film, Abhishek and Kangana share screen-space in the film 'Game', where Abhishek plays a drug lord, and Kangana is a super-cop.
