Bachchans are known to be presented with prestigious awards and acknowledgement for their contribution towards society and cinema.

Adding one more feather in her cap is Bachchan Bahu, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who is all set to receive Meryl Streep Award for Excellence at the first Women in Film and Television (WIFT) India Award.

Explaining the meaning behind an award being named after an actress, WIFT India's president Petrina D'Rozaria said that Meryl Streep is an epitome of inspiration for all, whether through her profession as an artist or as a philanthropist.

Adding further she said that besides the blue-eyed beauty, WIFT will also honour filmmaker Zoya Akhtar and budding actress Janhvi Kapoor.

WIFT focuses on encouragement of women in the field of film industry, video and other media formats. The award ceremony will be hosted in Washington DC on September 8.
