(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Amanda Seyfried has promised her new movie will be edgy and gothic and dark.

The actress plays Valerie in Red Riding Hood, which is due out next year. The movie is an adaptation of the famous fairytale, and sees a woman fall in love with a man her parents deem unsuitable. It is directed by Catherine Hardwicke, and Amanda cant wait for audiences to see it.

Red Riding Hood is a classic fairytale that we all know, and what fans can expect from this version of the story is that it's basically just a jumping-off point, she told MTV show The Seven. Catherine Hardwicke has just completely turned this story into something edgy and gothic and dark, and she's clearly somebody that's very capable of turning something, everything into an extraordinary world.

Gary Oldman and Julie Christie also appear in the movie, and Amanda says they were great to work with. She is pleased the film has managed to retain aspects of the original story while also adding other elements, explaining it is a tale which will spook viewers.

There's a romance aspect to the film, which isn't in the fairytale... a lot of romance and a lot of danger. There's a wolf at the centre of the story, and it's exciting 'cause it's a whodunit, she said. Fans will be surprised by the tone of the film. (C) Cover Media
