(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Amy Winehouse claims she has been clean of drugs for around three years.

The British singer has had a public battle with substance abuse, and was hospitalised after suffering a suspected overdose in 2007. At the end of 2008 she took an extended holiday to the Caribbean island of St. Lucia where it was thought she was trying to overcome her demons, but the star insists she hasnt actually used drugs for much longer than most realise.

I'm much healthier now. I used to use drugs and I haven't used drugs in almost three years. It's not a hard thing, she told the British edition of Glamour magazine. I literally woke up one day and was like, 'I don't want to do this anymore.'

The star didnt discuss how she overcame her addictions, preferring to focus on her future. The 27-year-old hopes to have a family at some point, although she doesnt feel ready for kids quite yet.

Amy is divorced from Blake Fielder-Civil, and has been dating film director Reg Traviss this year. Their relationship has had its ups and downs, and it is currently unclear if they are still together. Whether the romance works in the long run or not, Amy knows she is destined to have children one day.

I'm of the age when you start thinking about it - not seriously - but you start thinking about having kids, she said. Although I'm not going to be pregnant in the next nine months! (C) Cover Media
