(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Amy Winehouse was "secretly engaged" to boyfriend Reg Traviss and planned to marry next year, according to reports.

The singer, who was found dead in her North London home on July 23, is believed to have agreed to marry the film director.

The engagement reportedly took place just weeks before her death after Amy decided she wanted to put her wild lifestyle behind her and start a family.

"Reg asked Amy and of course she said, Yes'. She loved him," the source told British newspaper The Sun. "She wanted nothing more than to be his wife and to start a family with him. She wanted to get rid of her demons so badly.

"They openly said they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. They both thought the absolute world of each other."

Reg had apparently given the 27-year-old a diamond ring during an emotional talk about their future and they had planned to marry next year.

The couple had been together for two years and Amy was said to be determined to give up drugs and alcohol for good.

"Amy spent a week in rehab in June and told loved ones afterwards she was determined to quit booze. She was planning her future with Reg and that was playing a huge part in her thinking," the insider added.

"Reg has been with the family every day since [Amy died]. It was clear to see their relationship was genuine."

Amy's father Mitch Winehouse said that Amy had "found love with Reg" and was "looking forward to their future together".

"She was the happiest she has been for years," he added.

Reg said that Amy had been "full of life" before passed away and that he had lost his "darling" who he "loved very much". (C) Cover Media
