Andrew Garfield not competitive with pals

30th June 2012

Andrew Garfield has insisted a role would never come between him and his friends.

The Amazing Spider-Man actor enjoys the company of fellow British actors Robert Pattinson and Jamie Bell when he is in New York City. Both Jamie and Andrew were linked to the role of Spider-Man, but Andrew was adamant there were no hard feelings when he won the part.

"My friends aren't so stupid that a job would come between us," he revealed.

Andrew was cast as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in July 2010 after producers tried out several young actors. Jamie and Andrew screen tested together and although Andrew triumphed the pair moved on quickly.

"You admit your jealousy to each other, giggle about it, then get pi*sed together," he told Radio Times magazine.

In October last year Jamie gave his blessing to Andrew about the role, admitting that he wasn't right for the part.

"I've never felt particularly connected to Peter Parker," he said.
