After the super success of 'Slumdog Millionaire' AR Rahman was the ultimate global figure in the field of music. The maestro was flooded with offers in India and abroad as well and it seems it is this hectic work that is taking a toll on him. The Oscar-winner AR Rahman has been facing quite a lot of criticism for his below average tracks in his recent film and the theme song for Common Wealth Games that didn't live up to the expectations. But apart from that he had a saving grace in the name of '127 hours' a film that has music from AR Rahman has been nominated in various awards at International scene. Though the film was short-listed and was able to earn nominations in most of the awards, but one-by-one the film is loosing on to its other competitors. At recently concluded BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) awards, AR Rahman lost to Alexandre Desplat, who composed the soundtrack for 'The King's Speech'. Now Rahman's all hopes must be attached to the ultimate Oscars, in which he has earned nominations in two different categories for the same film. He has been nominated in two categories - original score and original song at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards for the original score in '127 Hours' as well as the original song 'If I Rise' for the same movie. Hope the expectations are met and might again the Indian shine on the global front.
