Ashlee Simpson has gushed about her new boyfriend Vincent Piazza saying she's "lucky" to have him.

The couple spent Valentine's Day in New York were onlookers said they looked cosy and in love.

They spoke to OK! magazine at a Fashion Week bash and Ashlee told the publication about how great their relationship is.

"Valentine's is fun," Ashlee said and shared what their perfect night together would be.

"Hang at home and cook!" Ashlee smiled at her beau. "He's amazing. I'm lucky."

"She's my sous chef," Vincent added. "We improvise [what we cook]. So whether it's fish or pasta or something, steaks."

Ashlee is based in Los Angeles but Vincent said he was delighted when they could spend time together in the Big Apple.

"It's nice, it's been a great week," Vincent said. "I love when we get to spend time in New York together. It's where I'm from so we always have a good time."

Ashlee's divorce from rocker Pete Wentz was finalised late last year after three years of marriage. They co-parent their three-year-old son Bronx Mowgli.
