Ben Affleck: I want to make radical movies again

24th September 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ben Affleck says he wants to regain his anarchic attitude.

The talented actor took a three year break from acting before re-emerging last year in hit movies such as He's Just Not That Into You and State Of Play.

Now Ben has released his second directorial offering after 2007s Gone Baby Gone, a crime thriller called The Town starring Rebecca Hall, Blake Lively and Jeremy Renner.

The film has surprised critics by being so gritty, but Ben insists he has always had an interest in films that push boundaries, recalling how in his early career he wrote and directed a short film called I Killed My Lesbian Wife, Hung Her On A Meat Hook, And Now I Have A 3-Picture Deal At Disney.

"I want to try and get back to that kind of attitude," he told the Irish website movies.ie when discussing that short.

"I feel that kind of anarchy, that kind of spontaneity, slipped away from me.

Ben revealed that although hes proud of the huge success hes had in mainstream cinema, he doesnt actually like many of his most famous films. He feels far happier about his career now hes found his niche in the crime and thriller genre.

It's incredible, having the kind of success I've had, but, to be honest, I'm not really crazy about many of those movies. I'm in a much better place now," he beamed. (C) Cover Media
