(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Halle Berry and her ex-partner Gabriel Aubry are at loggerheads because both are used to being totally immersed in their daughters life, says a source.

The pair have daughter Nahla, who will turn three next month, together, but split last April. In December, Gabriel filed papers asking to be formally recognised as the father of Nahla and requesting shared custody of the child.

The move sparked surprise as the pair had previously been seen amicably co-parenting in public. Halle pulled out of a movie to focus on her dispute with Gabriel this week, and it was also revealed she has concerns about Nahlas well-being when she spends extended periods of time with her father.

Friends of Gabriel have claimed the problem stems from the couples time together, when Halle was the breadwinner. I never saw someone more dedicated to their child, one pal told People. From the beginning, Halle kind of had the upper hand because she was essentially supporting all of them for the most part. Gabriel never liked how that felt. Their split was tough because they're both so involved in raising Nahla, and neither ever wanted to give that up.

Following Halles allegations about his parenting techniques, Gabriel released his own statement blasting her for airing their personal issues in public. He spoke of his disappointment in Halles attempts to falsely malign him in the press.

However, friends of the 44-year-old actress say she is determined to do the best for her daughter, and will fight to ensure the tot is protected.

"The only reason Gabriel is seeing Nahla right now is because the court hasn't made a decision yet," an insider told the publication. "If it were up to Halle, he wouldn't be seeing her at all without some sort of supervision." (C) Cover Media
