(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Beyonc Knowles has hyenas for pets in her latest music promo.
The singer debuted the video for her new single Run the World (Girls) last night, during television show American idol. She is renowned for completing fast-paced dance routines dressed in funky costumes in her promos, and this one is no different.
In it, the star is seen leading a tribe of women in a post-apocalyptic world. Dressed in amazing haute couture pieces, the group fight off an opposing army in Africa.
Beyonc is seen wiggling her hips and completing many sexy dance moves, while the group are keen to show off their pet hyenas.
The subject matter should come as no surprise, as Beyonc is known for singing about female empowerment. Her former band Destiny's Child's track Independent Women was a huge hit, as was the star's solo song Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It).
The video for Run the World (Girls) was directed by Francis Lawrence, who has previously discussed how exciting it was to work with the pop superstar.
"It'll be big, it'll probably be one of the bigger Beyonc music videos ever done," he recently said. "And, I can say that I think the song is unbelievable."
Beyonc is looking forward to seeing how fans react to her new sound. The song is a move away from her pop roots, which is one of the reasons she loves it so much.
"I just heard the track and loved that it was so different," she previously explained. "It felt a bit African, a bit electronic and futuristic. It reminded me of what I love, which is mixing different cultures and eras things that typically don't go together to create a new sound." (C) Cover Media
