Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and superstar Salman Khan came together for 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam', and the movie which also featured Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, turned out to be one of the biggest blockbusters of 1999. It was also called one of the top classic romantic Bollywood films of all times. Salman also extended himself by playing a role in Bhansali's film 'Saawariya' in 2007.

All was well between the two until 'Guzaarish' came along. Bhansali was initially contemplating to cast Salman in the lead for the film, and based on insiders he had also spoken to the actor on the script.

However, for reasons best known to SLB, he opted to cast Hrithik Roshan in the lead. Bhansali baffled many as he even made Salman's ex-Aishwarya, the lead in the film. Bhansali's act had sure irked Salman, and the actor had even passed some statements on the project which had not gone down well with the filmmaker.

It looks like déjà vu all over again for Salman and Bhansali, and this time it is for the film 'Kanchana'.

Based on sources in tinsel town, Salman and Bhansali were top contenders in the race to bag the remake rights for the South hit film, but it was Bhansali, who ended up scoring the deal for around Rs. 2.5 crores. This sure came as a shocker for Salman, who was planning to remake the film with his brother Sohail Khan and also playing the lead.

It is of course no surprise that Bhansali will not cast Salman in the lead for the 'Kanchana' remake, but the filmmaker has managed to shake things up, as based on sources close to the production, he will cast one of Salman's top real-life competitors in the lead for this South remake.
