Big B-Shotgun forget the feud, party together

29th October 2014

Bollywood has a history of broken friendship and patch ups. The list of friends turned foe and back to being friends is a long one. This infamous list has the likes of Shah Rukh, Salman, Aamir, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, etc.

But the veterans who adorn this list from decades are Amitabh Bachchan and Shatrughan Sinha. The two share love-hate equation ever since we can remember. From the time they were arch rivals, they shared cold vibes and this cold war reached its peak when Shotgun refused to accept the sweet box sent by Amitabh after his son Abhishek's marriage to Aishwarya Rai in 2007.

"Jab bulaaya nahin phir mithai kis baat ki?" was Sinha's response. Bachchan retorted that those who were not invited were not friends to begin with.

But they have now let the bygones be bygones as Shatrughan graciously made an appearance at Big B's Diwali party to which he was personally invited by the latter. He was spotted with his whole family at Jalsa where stars celebrated the festival of lights with élan.

However Shatru chose to speak about it openly and confessed that it was time that they buried the hatchet. Shotgun was accompanied by wife Poonam, daughter Sonakshi and sons Luv and Kush. The whole Bachchan clan too was extremely happy with their attendance.

Shatrughan confirmed the news, while he also added that he was pleased by the hosts. "I would say it was a Ram-Bharat milap. The Bachchan family invited us and we were treated as if we were the chief guests. All four of them, even Amitabh's daughter Shweta, welcomed us warmly and took good care of us. It was a classy party and the arrangements were lovely," he said.

He further revealed that they have been very cordial on social dos. "(After bypass surgery in 2012) I invited Amitabh to the party I hosted for my doctors after my recovery and he reciprocated by calling me to his birthday bash last year.We graciously accept each other's invitation but ghar pe jana kuch alag hi hota hai. Usme jo apnapan hai woh social gatherings ki mulaqat mein nahin hai," he claimed.

He also refused to talk about their rivalry during the peak of their career.  "Jawaani thi, josh tha, there were ego issues. Now, our stature and age demands that we behave as mature adults. And what better occasion than Diwali to reunite?" he concluded.
