(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Miley Cyrus father says her television show has destroyed their family.

Singer Billy Ray Cyrus has revealed he wishes Miley had never appeared in hit Disney series Hannah Montana as it has torn their family apart. Billy is currently in the process of getting a divorce from Mileys mother Tish and has confessed he is worried about his 18-year-old daughter as she is surrounded by negative influences. He also hit out at critics who blamed him for Mileys outrageous behaviour.

"I hate to say it, but yes, I do. I'd take it back in a second. The damn show destroyed my family, he said in an interview for the March issue of GQ, according to New York Post. "Every time the train went off the track her people, or as they say in today's news, her handlers, every time they'd put [the blame on] me I took it because I'm her daddy OK, nail me to the cross.

"I'm scared for her. She's got a lot of people around her that's putting her in a great deal of danger. I want to get her sheltered from the storm."

Miley has often courted controversy she caused outrage when she posed draped in just a sheet for a magazine photoshoot when she was 15 and was slammed for pole dancing at the Teen Choice Awards. More recently, photographs were released of her smoking legal herb salvia from a bong at her 18th birthday party at Los Angeles bar Trousdale.

Billy is worried Miley is going off the rails and admits he should have stepped in when the photos were made public in December last year. He knew Miley shouldnt be partying in a bar at her age and regrets not doing more to protect her reputation.

"You know why I didn't go? Because they were having it in a bar. It was wrong. It was for 21 years old and up all them people, they all wanted me to fly out so that then when all the bad press came they could say, 'Daddy endorsed this stuff.' I started realising I'm being used, he added during the interview.

"I should have said, 'Enough is enough - it's getting dangerous and somebody's going to get hurt' Honestly, I didn't know the ball was out of bounds until it was way up in the stands somewhere."

Billy went on to say he is still in contact with Miley but the pair arent as close as they used to be. He describes his relationship with his daughter as good enough to know it could be a lot better". (C) Cover Media
