Black Eyed Peas cancel Jackson performance

5th October 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - The Black Eyed Peas will not be taking part in the Michael Jackson tribute concert this weekend.

The group was due to perform at the Michael Forever concert on Saturday in Cardiff, Wales.

"It is with regret that we announce the removal of Black Eyed Peas from the Michael Forever bill," Chris Hunt the chief executive officer of Global Live Events confirmed to BBC news. "But I look forward to a great night with other earth shattering artists."

The Black Eyed Peas had confirmed their attendance last month. Will.i.am expressed how thrilled he was to be taking part.

"I had the great privilege of working with him [Michael Jackson] and getting to know him and his beautiful family," he said in a statement. "That's why The Black Eyed Peas wouldn't miss being at the Millennium Stadium for this gig on October 8th: we all owe Michael such a lot."

The group have yet to comment on their decision not to take part.

The Michael Forever concert will still feature artists such as Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Gladys Knight, Smokey Robinson, Leona Lewis and Ne-Yo.

The concert has been the subject of some controversy.

Siblings Janet, Randy and Jermaine Jackson are all boycotting the event because it is being held during Dr. Conrad Murray's trial for involuntary manslaughter.

The family hope that Michael's children won't be called as witnesses in the trial into his death.

Michael's brother Tito doesn't want to see Prince, Paris or Blanket on the witness stand.

"My mother, and us as well, don't want them to have any participation as a witness or whatever no," he told Sky News. (C) Cover Media
