The 23-year-old American actress has become an international star thanks to her role in hit US teen drama Gossip Girl, which follows the lives of a group of stylish youngsters living in New York. The programme has turned her and her female co-stars including Leighton Meester and Taylor Momsen into fashion icons, although the stunning star credits her mother as being the source of inspiration for her fashion-forward dressing.

"Fashionwise, my mother taught me everything. She was a model. She didnt dress like anyone else and she didnt dress us like any other children, Blake said in an interview with the French edition of Elle magazine. She would buy adult clothes that she would adjust to our size. At school, we looked different. She taught us that being dressed was a way to express yourself. (C) Cover Media
