(Cover) - EN Music - Brandon Flowers doesn't adlib at The Killers shows anymore because of YouTube.
The frontman made a return to the UK last week with an intimate show at London's Scala venue. The Las Vegas band comprising of Brandon, Dave Keuning, Mark Stoermer and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. - kicked off a two-night residency at the 1,000-capacity venue to a packed house, with tickets for the performances reported to have sold out in a mere six minutes.
Brandon says video sharing website YouTube has killed the spontaneity bands could afford to have on stage before.
"There won't be any new stuff in the set tonight. I haven't written all the lyrics yet. I used to ad lib words at early Killers shows as long as we had a melody and an arrangement for the song I'd just let it out. YouTube," he replied when asked what has happened since. "You could kinda get away with it before, but now it's different."
Brandon is currently working on his song writing skills. The 30-year-old musician is brushing up on his ability to write new material as he is aware that is his weakness in terms of his musical capabilities.
"Lyrics are something I've been working on," he confessed in an interview with NME. "I'm the first to admit I've been hit-and-miss in that department. But I am trying to get better. Music can be really powerful on its own but when you attach a good story that's the ultimate, that's what I'm trying to do." (C) Cover Media
