Ryan Reynolds: Competitive actors are toxic

3rd July 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ryan Reynolds thinks competitiveness in the movie industry is "toxic".

The 34-year-old Canadian actor has enjoyed a successful and varied Hollywood career, starring in everything from action films such as Green Lantern to romantic comedies including The Proposal.

One of the main things Ryan has learnt over the years is not to battle with his co-stars.

"It's toxic on a set when you're competitive with other actors. Whenever I've worked with another actor who's been competitive, usually nine times out of ten it's backfired on them they've had a really unsatisfying experience. It's the sum of its parts," he explained to the British edition of OK! magazine.

When asked if the success he has experienced amazes him, Ryan became lost for words. The star admits that when he started out doing improvisation and comedy he never dreamed he would be accepted in the serious world of cinema.

"I don't know how to answer that, other than to say, having come from the world of comedy improv, I never thought I'd be an actor. But I worked very, very hard and had very good luck," he smiled. (C) Cover Media
