January 10, 2011 (Sampurn Wire): Canadian rocker Bryan Adams is coming to India for his third tour in the country till his first visit in 2001. This time, he will start the tour from Pune, where a local Indian band will get the opportunity to open for Adams in the Live Full Band Show World Tour.

A rock band contest termed Rockathon has been organized to select the band, which will get lucky to open for Adams. The bands from all over India have got the opportunity to show off their talents and win the golden chance.

Keyur Godse, owner of the organizing company Sixteen By Sixty-Four Media says that they have got responses from about 60 bands from Mumbai, Pune, Darjeeling and even Shillong. The bands interested to compete, just need to get themselves enrolled by sharing their contact information and uploading their 15 minute video on You Tube. They can also send the DVD of their performance to the organizing company directly.

A judging panel, consisting of renowned name like Shital Chandra Kulkarni, will be short listing the entries. Kulkarni added that this is not just a normal competition because it gives the opportunity to open for an international act with a musician like Bryan Adams.

There are not any special criteria for a band but they will prefer if it is in sync with Bryans performance. They have not restricted to any specific genre as they just want a good band.

Bryan has a huge fan following in India and the band, which will open for him, will get an international recognition. His Pune tour will have a 90-minute performance, which will take place on February 11.
