(Cover) - EN Movies - Carey Mulligan has joined the cast of Outback.

The Oscar nominated-actress will join the Gary Ross-directed science fiction action movie, which will be set in the Australian outback.

According to Variety, Nissar Modi will pen the script based on an original idea that he and Gary conceived. Tobey Maguire, who is best known for his role as Spider-Man in the Marvel Comic films, will co-produce alongside Gary.

Graham King and Tim Headington will also co-produce under King's GK Films moniker. Details of the film are scarce at this point.

Carey, 26, is shooting Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby this summer alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, and Isla Fisher. The star plays jazz-age socialite Daisy Buchanan in the 3D remake of the popular tale.

She can next be seen alongside Ryan Gosling in Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive which is due to hit theatres in September.

Director Gary is currently filming highly anticipated The Hunger Games for Lionsgate, starring Jennifer Lawrence. (C) Cover Media
